In my time I have known some shockingly bad health visitors, but its all too easy to take that one person and to set that as the prototype for all health visitors.
Its obviously wrong to judge a whole caring profession based on a few bad experinces. Most health visitors work that socks off in a job that really must suck at times, and yet all they get is a huge amount of grief.
I could list my bad HV experiences, but I thought lets be positive and think about all those that go that extra mile. Has anyone got a great health visitor story they would like to share......
You're so right! I've had a few HV's over the years , only one that I detested & 1 who was marvellous, so kind & approachable that she should give lessons!
ReplyDeleteEllen its those that are marvellous that really have the potential to save us mums in the early days when it all seems so hard, and later on when those big issues rear their ugly heads. I never breastfed any of mine, but if I did I can't imagine how you would do that without the support of a great HV.
